UP's R&D team, consisting of former World Champion Stephan Stieglair, Paragliding World Cup ace Torsten Siegel and test pilot Georg Maier, have been with us and in charge of paraglider design since 1996. The guys have an impressive portfolio of well-loved wings behind them, and they just keep pushing the envelope further.
Not only do Stephan and Torsten do all the computerwork designing the wings themselves, they also test them! This means zero room for misleading interpretations in the communication between test pilots and designers, as this can all happen in complete solitude and without uttering a word, all in real time while throwing the wings around like the seasoned pros that they are!
But UP is more than wings; we're managed "in Swedish" (UP owner Christian Rönning hails from Sweden), meaning we know that an organisation is more than just the sum of its parts. We conduct weekly meetings where all have their say in all aspects of the day-to-day business, and we're committed to bringing our customers the best service we can.
Our Sales&Marketing department consists of trained professionals with a variety of formal backgrounds. Our spacious Service department is equipped with state-of-the-art purpose-built checking machinery and aids, and the Service staff is experienced in all aspects of paraglider maintenance.
Our manufacturing is based in China, and we work solely with one single very large provider with years of experience behind them. The workmanship is the best in the business, and the quality control strict and stringent.
We use only the very best materials, all chosen for function rather than for price.
And last but not least we have been fortunate enough to attract the best pilots in the world to our Race Team, something that their results bear testimony to.
