Chip Hildebrand sets a new state distance record on a new route never flown! His weapon of choice: The UP Edge, which has become a real classic by now. Chip's impressive flight started in Wilson, Wyoming, 6 hours and 20 minutes later he landed in Thermopolis, Wyoming with a big smile on his face.

 

 

LITHUANIA

 

Rasa Grigoriatiene wins the Lithuanian Open on an earlier model of the XD70 prototype.

After her victory at the Belgian Open only 2 months ago, with runner-up Karoliina Turppo on a UP Trango XC, the past weeks where all about the successful UP ladies. Congratulations, well done!

 

 

SWITZERLAND

 

Nanda Walliser comes second in the Swiss League on her UP Edge, Daniela Hofer comes third on her Trango X-Light and second in the ladies' ranking at the Junior & Lady challenge.

Further, Nanda came first in club championships Jungfrau-Tächi on July 18th and second in the open ranking of the Festina Cup.

She also wins the ladies' overall ranking of the Swiss Cup 2010. Congratulations to both of these extraordinary pilots!

A Man Of His Word

Here is a quote from the actual newsletter December 2009:

 

[UP]You mentioned that you were wanting to fly the Trango XC next year?

 

[Martin] My goal for next year is to do some long, but more than any other thing nice, flights in the Serial Class - I think the Trango XC is the perfect tool for that. (...)

 

[UP] So why did you decide to fly Trango rather than Open Class?

 

[Martin] My job and my new life as a married man don't allow me much time for flying - this means that when I do get out I don't want to be stressing too much about points - I want to enjoy myself instead!

 

Modest words for the guy currently leading in the sports class and holding position 2 in the open class in the XContest on his Trango XC!

R&D Update

'Franta' has worked with Axis Para for a decade, as both the creative spirit behind the wing designs and as production manager.

During his studies to become an engineer, Franta already built his first gliders - he now looks back at 20 years of experience as a designer! His vision when it comes to building gliders reflects UP’s philosophy: finding the perfect blend between performance, handling and safety for the task at hand.

We're very excited to welcome Franta on board and look forward to working with him, designing winners for UP during the coming decade and more.

TROFEO MONTEGRAPPA 2010

Many pilots flying open class wings in the Trofeo Montegrappa 2010 mentioned that they could not believe how well this serial class wing goes - in fact, here is an actual quote: "It goes disturbingly well, he was always right there with us."
